[PHOTO NEWS] Jonathan meets Fayose at the Bayelsa PDP Priamries

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, and former president, Goodluck Jonathan, reunited in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa state, on Thursday. The last time both men were seen in public was in the build-up to the 2015 election. In a bid to apparently pave way for the return of Jonathan, Fayose was very critical of President Muhammadu Buhari, who was the opposition candidate, back then. Though Jonathan eventually lost the election, Fayose has not stopped his criticisms of Buhari. As head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) electoral panel in Bayelsa, Fayose was in the state to supervise the exercise which formally produced Seriake Dickson, governor of the state, as the PDP candidate for the December 5 election. As usual Fayose took a swipe at the president and mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the crisis that rocked its primary in the state. “Nobody can give us an INEC chairman that is his daughter or in-law. This is our country and nobody can run out of Nigeria,” he said. “Therefore, we are watching INEC and its activities. We will not allow you to play pranks. This is an Ijaw state and a PDP controlled state.” On APC primary, he said: “I am conducting this PDP primary in Bayelsa transparently in line with the PDP guidelines. I am not ready to dodge out of this stadium to run away.” Jonathan, who has since declared support for Dickson, also witnessed the ceremony.
