In an election that was almost marred by violence, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has officially declared the PDP candidate, Udom Emmanuel as the winner of the governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.
Udom defeated his closest rival Umana Umana after he polled the highest number of votes.
The results released at the State INEC headquarters on Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Barr. Austin Eni Okojie and other top INEC officials, show Umana Umana of the APC winning in only one LGA, Orue-Offong Oruko.
The number of vote casts for both APC and PDP in each of the 26 local government areas are as follow:
